FROM MIXING AND MATCHING BRANDS TO THRIFTING AND REPURPOSING GARMENTS ANY INDIVIDUAL IS ABLE TO USE FASHION AS AN OUTLET FOR CREATIVITY AND PREFERENCE. AS A DESIGNER, I USE THIS AS A CATALYST FOR DEVELOPING MY OWN DESIGNS.”

Designer Bio

Calvin Padilla was born and raised in New York City. He worked in the fashion Industry for 11 years as a Design Support Technician prior to beginning his academic journey at F.I.T.. During his career as Design Support Technician, Calvin’s role was to resolve technical issues that were design related. His professional experiences provided him with opportunities to acquire skills in a wide variety of design related programs. Calvin’s professional success allowed him to work closely with designers, by facilitating positive adjustments to their workflow and design setup

During his time as Design Support Technician Calvin built professional relationships within the company, these relationships provided him with the confidence to apply for F.I.T.. With support and guidance, he began transferring his technical abilities into a portfolio that would get him accepted in to F.I.T.. Calvin chose F.I.T. as the catalyst to pursue a career in Men’s Fashion Design because the programs at F.I.T. have produced some of the most well-known and talented designers in the world. Calvin’s journey at F.I.T has equipped him with a plethora of technical skills and conceptual knowledge. One of the most valuable experiences he has had the pleasure of partaking in, is the 3D pattern making internship offered by DTech Lab.
